Finance & Planning Analyst

Department: Musco Finance
Location: Oskaloosa, IA

Musco Sports Lighting is seeking to hire an experienced analyst to help drive improvements in our standard costing processes, develop an in-depth understanding of Musco’s lighting projects from a process and accounting purview, and provide proactive analysis to help support senior leaders better understand results and support decisions. This position will provide a strong candidate with the opportunity to contribute to Musco’s success while growing their professional skills to position them for future career advancement within the accounting team or other areas of the company.

The position reports to the Business Analysis Manager. The business analysis team is responsible for the development of management reporting that aligns with the operational priorities and providing advanced analysis and modeling to support business decisions.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for revenue recognition analysis across Musco’s portfolio or projects. This involves understanding the business model and accounting requirements, then using high volumes of project data to generate exception reporting and perform analysis.
  • Help spot system and process issues and then participate in teams to resolve and improve.
  • Supports various monthly analysis, reporting, and forecasting.
  • Responsible for maintaining, updating, and monitoring standard cost and system updates.
  • Analyzes budget vs. actual to identify variances to standard and causes.
  • Works closely with various team leaders, including purchasing, supply chain, and manufacturing, to cost and inventory analysis to help inform decisions.
  • Leads quarterly cost reviews, which directly impact pricing strategies.
  • Partners with manufacturing and purchasing to evaluate and track cost saving initiatives.
  • Active participation in the annual forecasting process related to standard cost setting/updates and manufacturing costs, including process improvements.
  • Active member of the accounting team to help drive efficiency and effectiveness through the accounting processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance and a minimum of 5 years working in related roles
  • Demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and be able to work with a variety of individuals at all levels both internally and externally.
  • Strong understanding of standard costing concepts and practical application.
  • Highly proficient with software to include Excel (Advanced to expert level), Power Point, and Word.
  • Advanced knowledge or passion to learn PowerBI for analysis and reporting.
  • Working knowledge of financial systems and data structures.
