Technician Associate

The Musco Services Team is currently seeking a Technician Associate. This position will be responsible for learning Musco systems and services associated with all aspects of Musco field work, to develop skills and focus on path to future Musco services roles. They will entail the safe operation of all equipment while working on field service or temporary lighting projects to meet the completion plans of the project as detailed by logistics supervisor. What you will do as a Technician Associate:

  • Drive and operate different types of equipment at lighting projects, including, but not limited to fork lifts, aerial man lifts, all terrain forklifts, generators, non-CDL vehicles and rental cars
  • Perform field service work, which will require working in aerial lifts, climbing poles, or in catwalk access locations at heights
  • Learn all different aspects of Musco products and services provided to lend toward future services roles.
  • Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and inspection of equipment and products
  • Coordinate time frames for projects with customers, vendors, equipment and people resources for assigned projects
  • Maintain consistent communication with Field Logistics Supervisor regarding daily work duties and schedules
  • Provide detailed written field reports and completion of required paperwork within one week of project or assignment of paperwork
  • Work on crews on individually at Musco projects that could include, temporary lighting, warranty related efforts of Musco’s metal halide, LED or control-link products.
  • Make solid daily expense related decisions
  • Other duties as assigned

What you need to be successful:

  • Excellent technical and problem solving ability
  • Basic electrical and mechanical aptitude is preferred
  • Excellent verbal, written, and telephone communication skills
  • Strong personal initiative and ability to work with little supervision
  • Basic computer, email, and internet skills for receiving work instructions and job reporting
  • Ability to learn internal communication system
  • Must pass a pre-employment physical, drug screen, and background check.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Post high school education (technical training or degree) in a hands-on, mechanical trade or related field is preferred
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Drivers’ License is required
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Musco specific fall protection and equipment based training

Other Special Requirements:

  • Job is typically based out of Iowa, but extensive travel (220-240 days per year) is required throughout the U.S. and, at times, abroad. Some working days in Oskaloosa will be required.
  • Weekend and holiday work are regular
  • Long and odd work hours are necessary at times
  • Projects to service lighting poles or structures that are between 40 and 120 feet tall using aerial lifts or by climbing with approved fall protect equipment, in rare cases servicing heights of over 120 feet may be required
