Custodial Supervisor
The Musco Facilities team has an opening for a Custodial Supervisor at our Oskaloosa office. The purpose of this position is to provide leadership, guidance, training and coaching for a team of Custodians and Facility Assistants. The Custodial Manager will ensure that the facility is a safe and clean environment for all team members to work in. Please note, the schedule for this position requires evening work from 4:30 p.m. - 12:30 a.m. Monday through Friday. Essential Criteria:
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- 4+ years management/supervision experience required.
- 2+ years of Maintenance/Custodial experience preferred.
- Ability to guide and mentor direct reports.
- Computer skills and Microsoft office package software experience.
- Good organizational skills.
- Basic mechanical skills a plus but not required.
- Innovative problem-solving with a team-oriented mindset.
- Splitting shifts to address operational needs during both day and night hours is a standard practice and is required for maintaining effective communication with the night custodial team.
- Some weekend and weekly extended hours may be required.
- Must pass a pre-employment physical, drug screen, and background check.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Lead, supervise, and manage the custodial team, including hiring, onboarding, training, coaching, performance evaluation, and regular 1-on-1 meetings to support professional growth.
- Supervise, schedule, and coordinate custodial team members across all shifts, ensuring full coverage and alignment with facility cleanliness and safety standards.
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for custodial services; update and enforce consistent application across all shifts.
- Conduct regular walk-throughs to monitor work quality, safety compliance, and overall building cleanliness, addressing issues promptly. Ensure all cleaning tasks are completed to established standards, including floors, restrooms, trash removal, dusting, and sanitizing.
- Train new team members and provide ongoing training on best practices, safety procedures, and compliance with OSHA and company standards.
- Maintain and manage inventory of cleaning supplies, breakroom/conference room consumables, and facility support equipment; request resupply and oversee procurement within budgetary guidelines.
- Manage relationships with third-party custodial and maintenance vendors, including oversight of contracts and service performance.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for internal teams regarding custodial services; ensure clear communication between shifts and management to maintain continuity and resolve matters.
- Keep accurate records of attendance, performance issues, shift reports, respond to and resolve custodial matters or emergencies during any shift.
- Support strategic facilities planning by providing insights into resource needs, staffing adjustments, and capital improvement opportunities.
- Other duties as assigned.
