Controls Technician

Essential Criteria:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Trade school certification, associate degree, or formal training in HVAC, electrical systems, or controls technology preferred
- 3–5 years of experience working with building automation systems (BAS), HVAC controls, or similar industrial/control systems required
- Apply technical expertise in building automation, HVAC controls, and fire alarm systems to maintain and improve system performance
- Diagnose issues, analyze data, and implement effective troubleshooting solutions
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, safety, and industry standards
- Identify opportunities for system optimization and drive continuous improvement initiatives
- Maintain accurate documentation and manage system data to support operations and decision-making
- Occasional travel to other Musco sites or properties may be required up to 10% of the time
- Willingness to work extended hours or weekends on as needed basis
- Work is performed in a combination of indoor, outdoor, and rooftop environments across multiple facilities
- Regular exposure to outdoor weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, and precipitation
- Frequent work on rooftops and elevated surfaces requiring use of ladders and fall protection equipment
- Indoor work may occur in mechanical rooms, electrical rooms, and other facility spaces with varying noise levels
- No exposure to extreme indoor climate conditions; indoor environments are generally climate-controlled
- May require working around energized equipment and adherence to electrical safety practices (e.g., PPE, lockout/tagout)
- Valid Driver’s license and ability to travel between facilities as needed
- Drug Test + Background Check + Pre-Employment Physical + Motor Vehicle Check
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Innovative problem-solving with a team-oriented mindset
- Familiarity with Musco solutions is a plus
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Maintain, program, and troubleshoot building automation, HVAC control, and fire alarm systems
- Monitor system trends to identify and resolve performance, efficiency, and reliability issues
- Maintain and troubleshoot fire alarm panels/devices and investigate alarm, supervisory, and trouble events
- Manage asset data, preventive maintenance schedules, and records within CMMS
- Maintain accurate system documentation including device mapping, panel labeling, and as-built drawings
- Modify control sequences and integrate new equipment into existing systems
- Commission HVAC equipment and optimize system performance (PID loops, airflow, VFDs)
- Coordinate inspections and ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards (e.g., NFPA, OSHA)
- Support system integration, cybersecurity considerations, and remote monitoring capabilities
- Drive performance improvements by reducing downtime, optimizing energy usage, and minimizing external service reliance
- Perform other duties as assigned
